Found Money
Oscar came to see me not long after the aftermath of the technology boom and bust of the early 2000s. He was seeking a new advisor after suffering a significant loss in the devastating tech market crash. We started by building a retirement plan to assess how much the loss had impacted his goals.
Sorting through a stack of investment statements, I was puzzled by the alleged loss, as his investments had been quite conservative. I also noticed that his address had changed several times over the past decade.
As I pieced together his investment history, it appeared that one of his investment accounts had ‘gone missing.’ After a few phone calls to confirm, we located the missing account and reunited it with its rightful owner. Oscar was beyond thrilled.
The simple act of organizing his paperwork had located assets that he thought were lost forever. Who doesn’t love finding money they forgot they had?
